Important information for using Links+Rechts der Autobahn
Nowadays almost all long trips will entail the use of the motorway. When doing so points of interest and especially hotels, inns, closeby restaurants and inexpensive filling stations can easily be overlooked.
That's where Links+Rechts der Autobahn can help. It provides you with recommendations, tips and information. The important advantage: you don't have to be familiar with the region to find what you're looking for - it is here just at a glance.
Links+Rechts der Autobahn comprises the highways of all the countries found on the title page with the relevant country symbol. We have divided the motorways into sections. In order to offer quick and exact information, each section is shown in diagram form and then again as a conventional map. In countries not having an extensive motorway system you may find it helpful to consult the country map.
The maps on the pages to the left show you motorway exits and the location of recommended hotels, inns and inexpensive filling stations as well as points of interest. All motorway exits - including rest stops, filling stations and kiosks - are indicated. In addition to the name of the exit, the distance (in km) from the beginning of the motorway is given as well as the exit number
. The kilometer information will enable you to calculate distances quickly and easily.
Under the red circles containing white numbers
you will find information about hotels and inns; in the red petrol pumps 
you will find inexpensive filling stations, and at the white circles containing red numbers 
points of interest. The code number of the next succeeding map is indicated within a black arrow 
.
In addition to motorways, the maps of Denmark and Sweden also show motorway-type roadways
and major highways

The maps on the pages to the right show at a glance the exact location of places (marked in red) where either recommended hotel, restaurant, filling station or point of interest is located. In spite of the small scale we have tried to keep the maps simple for clarity.

Along the motorway, you will find that route numbers
can be very helpful. They are shown on all directional signs along the motorway and show the way to motorway junctions, etc. You will also find additional maps of some of the major German cities.
Finally one important tip: During holiday times it is highly advisable to reserve rooms in advance - either by phone or letter. If you will call the hotel or inn of your choice before noon, you may save yourself much trouble and disappointment later that same evening!
